Lupin the Third is returning to the big screen in 2D animation for the first time in approximately 30 years! The title is "LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE: The Immortal Bloodline." The setting is a mysterious island not found on any map. Lupin and his gang, who have landed on the island in pursuit of treasure, are confronted by an unknown entity called the "Immortal Bloodline." This ultimate story, depicted on an unprecedented scale and with dramatic flair, is said to be the origin story that connects to all "Lupin the Third" works.
The original story is Monkey Punch. The director is Takeshi Koike, who has received high praise both domestically and internationally for his stylish direction in all of the "LUPIN THE IIIRD" series. The script is by Yuya Takahashi, and the music is by James Shimoji. The familiar cast, including Kanichi Kurita, Akio Otsuka, Daisuke Namikawa, Miyuki Sawashiro, and Koichi Yamadera, are all reprising their roles. Guest voice actors include Ainosuke Kataoka, Aoi Morikawa, and Kuuki Kaidan. The theme song is "The IIIRD Eye," a new song written by B'z. The "Lupin the Third that nobody knows" finally appears on screen.
Lupin the Third and his gang head to the Bermuda Triangle, aiming for a "mysterious island" that doesn't exist on any world map. Their goal is to uncover the identity of the mastermind who has been sending assassins after them, and to reveal the vast hidden treasure. However, the moment they approach the island, their plane is shot down, and the group crash-lands on the island of death.
What awaits them is a landscape like the end of the world, piled high with decaying weapons and nuclear missiles, and inhabited by "garbage humans"—people who were once used as weapons and then discarded. The island, shrouded in fog, is filled with a poison that causes death within 24 hours, and there is no escape.
The island's ruler, Muom, advocates for immortality and seeks to control the world through selection and elimination. Faced with an "immortal enemy" against whom neither guns nor swords are effective, Lupin embarks on a battle of wits, staking his past, his pride, and his dignity as a thief.
Will Lupin be able to steal everything within 24 hours and escape the island alive?
